National Unity Day : Story Writing Competition

 

Rashtriya Ekta Divas (National Unity Day) is observed every year on 31st October to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary. It not only commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of national integration of independent India, but also re-affirms the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand threats to the unity, integrity and security of the Country. National Unity Day this year will follow the theme of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Accordingly, a national level Story Writing competition on the theme –  "The contribution of paired State/Union Territory (UT) in India's Struggle for Freedom" is being launched by the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. 

The competition aims to explore students' creative instincts and encourage them to write about the contributions of their paired states to India's struggle for freedom in accordance with the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat (EBSB) matrix.

"The contribution of paired State/Union Territory (UT) in India's Struggle for Freedom"


Activities

The Story Writing Competition at the National level will be under the following categories: -

1.               Story on the contribution of paired State/UT in India's development since Azadi

2.               Story on the life of scientists from the paired State/UT

3.               Contribution of women from paired State/UT since Azadi

4.               Story on the life of sports person, practitioners of performing arts from paired                  State/UT

5.               How will I contribute to the progress of my country?

6.               Story on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: his contribution to national integration

 

Eligibility to participate: Students enrolled in Grade 6th to 12th
Category I - Class 6th to 8th
Category II - Class 9th to 12th
Word Limit: Within 600 words

Language

All the Stories must be written in English or Hindi. However, the participants may translate the title of their story in the language of their paired State/UT.


The entries for Story Writing Competition shall be submitted at the website- www.MyGov.in

Important dates:

Date of Commencement : 31st October 2021
Date of culmination : 30th November 2021

Art Contest invites you to create your coolest frog artwork. The contest raises awareness of the amphibian extinction problem by getting people involved and interested, and the artwork is used on t-shirts, stickers and posters, and in greeting cards and books, to both publicize our cause and raise money for SAVE THE FROGS! amphibian conservation efforts.

We will celebrate the 14th Annual Save The Frogs Day on Saturday April 30th, 2022. We encourage you to take part!

ICPC Algo Queen – Girls Programming Cup 2021

 


ICPC Algo Queen – Girls Programming Cup 2021 hosted by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a unique, first of its kind girls only Competitive Programming Contest, as an initiative to encourage girls to participate in Problem Solving and Competitive Programming.

Girls learning coding is a much-needed step towards solving the gender gap problem that continues to plague software programming. Even after having a huge demand for coders, women are significantly underrepresented in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields, making it is even more important to show girls, in particular, that learning how to code is not only extremely beneficial, but it can also be fun. Girls Learning Coding is the key to a Bright Future.

Hence, we Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and ICPCthe oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world, puts forward Algo Queen as a first step towards Promoting Girls to ‘Code and Be the Change’.

Registration Opens from: 1st May 2021

Registration Closes by:10th November 2021

Contest will be held on: December 2021

  • Students can participate individually or form a group of maximum 2 members.
  • One of your school teachers shall be a coach / mentor. Teachers need not be essentially from computer science backgrounds. Any teacher who can encourage you can be a Coach / mentor. *It is not mandatory to have a coach.
  • Contest will be held on Code Drills platform. It is an online judge that helps you to understand the mistakes or errors instantly. Start practicing with the problems already posted in the above online platform.
  • Prizes : ICP AlgoQueen 2021- The Girls Programming Cup with Gold Medal to be awarded to the Top Team/Student and will also get an opportunity to attend “ICPC World Finals”.
    • Gold Medals for top 5 teams (Rank 1 to 5)
    • Silver Medals for next 5 teams (Rank 6 to 10)
    • Bronze Medals for the next 5 teams (Rank 11 to 15)
    • Top 3 teams from each state will be given an “Appreciation Award”
    • Exciting prizes at the end of each round.

Fit India Quiz 2021 : A Government of India Initiative

 

Fit India Quiz

The Fit India Quiz is primed to be the first-of-its-kind nation-wide quiz on fitness and sports for school children. The quiz will have representations from every State/UT in the country and will be a mix of online and broadcast rounds. The quiz format has been designed in an inclusive manner wherein school students from across the country will get an opportunity to test their fitness and sports knowledge against their peers. The quiz will be open for students from all age groups.

Fit India Quiz, while providing a national platform to students to showcase their knowledge about fitness and sports, also endeavours to create awareness among students about India's rich sporting history, including centuries-old indigenous sports, our sporting heroes of the past and how traditional Indian lifestyle activities hold the key to a Fit Life for all.
